Vintage General Electric Mid-Century Radio in Burgundy Marbled Bakelite c. 1948–1952 USA

Spectacular vintage General Electric radio manufactured in the United States between the late 1940s and early 1950s, a true piece of Mid-Century American industrial design.

The radio stands out especially for its elegant mottled bakelite casing in burgundy and dark brown tones with a magnificent mahogany-like marbled effect. This finish, much rarer and more sought after than the classic plain black bakelite, offers extraordinary visual depth and reflections under light, greatly enhancing its decorative and collector's value.

The front features the characteristic streamlined lines of post-war American Streamline design, combined with a large upper grille and a beautiful aqua-green horizontal dial with dual BC/SW (Broadcast and Short Wave) bands. It also retains its original symmetrical knobs and all the authentic period aesthetics.

This is a perfect piece for collectors of antique radios as well as for retro, industrial, Mid-Century, cinematic decoration or vintage American-inspired interiors.

In our area, it has not been able to locate active commercial stations, which is very common nowadays due to the progressive disappearance of AM/Medium Wave and Short Wave stations, as well as the frequent need to use a long external antenna to improve reception.

Operates at 115/125 V.

Therefore, it is sold primarily as a decorative and collectible vintage item.
