Richter Anchor No. 2½ "Halle" – Historic Architectural Building Block Set (c.1900-1925)
Between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Richter Anker Steinbaukasten construction sets became one of Europe's most cherished educational toys. Their concept was simple yet brilliant: allowing children to build real architecture using artificial stone blocks.
The No. 2½ "Halle" model belongs to the compact sets of the Anchor series. Although smaller than other models in the collection, it offers enough pieces to create temples, arcades, towers, or classical buildings inspired by European architecture.
Anchor blocks were made from a patented mineral mixture that provided great weight, precision, and stability to the constructions. This made the resulting buildings surprisingly solid.
These blocks were part of the childhood of many future architects; Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius recalled playing with Anchor sets as a child.
The original manuals show different possible constructions through detailed plans.
